Music has always been a big part of my life, since I was a little child. My parents and grandparents sacrificed a great deal to provide opportunities for musical education and it was because of their encouragement that I started a life long quest for musical expression. I started studying piano, voice and composition at an early age, performing in a myriad of examinations and festivals through the years. Born in Canada, I completed the Royal Conservatory of Music A.R.C.T. course of study through the University of Toronto, and then went on to receive my degree in music education, with a minor in composition from Brigham Young University. It was a Relief Society lesson's challenge that first motivated me to start composing in earnest, and this has led to a lifetime of creativity in which I've composed a wide variety of inspirational, encouraging and uplifting music for people of all ages, and groups of all sizes. The Sing-And-Do Songbooks Volume 1-4 published by Shawnee Press feature 18 of my fun children songs. Leslie Publishing in Canada has published several octavos and the Kiwanis Music Festival has used them as set pieces for music festivals across Canada. Presently I am head of the choral department at Constable Neil Bruce Middle School. My first church calling was as ward organist at the tender age of twelve. Since then, most of my church callings have included assignments dealing with music. Some of my favorite assignments have included working as primary accompanist and chorister, ward choir director, ward music director, stake music director and resident stake music composer. Currently I am serving in the Relief Society Presidency. I have often felt God's influence while composing, and I have felt his spirit directing my work. I hope that you will find this music a pleasure to perform. |
